Field operational commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Riyaz Naikoo today issued a stern warning to Government, saying the militants would force families of cops and political workers to migrate if forces again target their families. In a latest audio-visual statement, the Hizb commander while referring to assaults on families of militants in different parts of south Kashmir since last two weeks asked the police and army not to harm them and instead take on insurgents. “Just remember, if any of militants’ families are harassed from today onwards, then families of your agents, workers and policemen would not be safe. If you harass our families, then families from SPO to SP and from a small worker to Chief Minister, no one would be safe and we will force them to migrate. Then you have to keep them in police stations,” Naikoo said. He said aim behind ransacking houses of militants by “India and its agents is only to crush freedom movement and they want to bring down our morale”. “But we assure our nation that these tactics wouldn’t cow down us. India has forced us to take up gun but we won’t abandon gun till we drive out India’s oppressive army from Kashmir,” he said. Naikoo said that they are ready to give any sacrifice for freedom. “Even if you martyr our families, we are ready to give any sacrifice to please Allah. The day we took up arms, we are ready to give sacrifice. If any of our family members achieves martyrdom, we consider it an honour. We, for Islam, for security and freedom of our nation, are ready to sacrifice our lives,” he said. He asked Indian army, police and politicians not to involve families of militants in “war between you and us”. “You are at war with us and use as much as force, technology you want to use but what have our families done to you for which you are harassing them. We have taken up arms, not our families,” the Hizb commander said. "You would see what would be the consequences of harassing our families and relatives. But remember where Islam has tied our hands, the Islam and guerilla war allows us to act in certain situations,” he said. The Hizb commander said “we don’t want to harass your families but don’t compel us to do that”. “This is the frustration of Indian army and police. India has lost the war and is employing new tactics,” he said, referring to the ransacking of militants’ houses. He asked army and police if operation all-out has succeeded then “why are they targeting families of militants”. The Hizb commander however mocked the success claims of the army and police and said that the offensive against them has not deterred militancy despite losing key commanders. “We can double the number of militants but we believe in quantity. We don’t want to repeat the mistakes of 90s,” he said.
